Installation of ducting for Fleet Command HQ at Whale Island.
When we set about installing new fibre optic and telecommunications routes for Fleet Command HQ at Whale Island, we were soon involved in careful excavation to detect and identify the various existing services which were unrecorded on this very old naval base. We put in two kilometres of 2-way, 4-way and 6-way ducting to interconnect the site buildings via numerous inspection pits.
Another Royal Navy project, at HMS Collingwood, required our installation of a 125mm-diameter MDPE 16-Bar water main, new fire hydrants and stop valves, plus reconnection to the existing barrack buildings.
Reinstatement was necessary, as was full traffic management around the activity along a considerable length of roadway.
