• Portsmouth City Council urban regeneration scheme included a requirement for new storage facilities. GMC has found similar schemes very rewarding work, and in this case we upgraded disused bin stores to low-maintenance, lockable external stores that are easily accessed by residents of the adjacent apartments. This was a project of £100,000 value.
  
  
• To help combat the problem of contraband goods coming into the UK via south-coast ports, HM Customs & Excise commissioned GMC to construct the concrete mounting for a large X-ray machine, plus the unloading dock that allows inspection of cargo from HGVS.
  
  
• Sometimes GMC is called upon to refurbish disused or redundant buildings. One sensitive project was the alteration of an ammunition store to bring it up to a suitable modern standard. The work entailed re-screeding floors and coating them with an epoxy resin, rewiring the building to meet latest electrical regulations, and repairs to the roof.
